Pet Valu Canada Inc. is Canada’s largest pet specialty retail chain. Whether you are looking for supplies for dogs, cats, fish, birds, or small animals, Pet Valu offers a broad selection of national and premium brands. We are proud to consider ourselves the “Pet Experts”.

Pet Valu started in Toronto in 1976 and in 1987 we opened our first franchise. Today, there are more than 330 Pet Valu, Bosley’s by Pet Valu and Paulmac’s franchises in Canada and over 900 stores in North America.

Pet Valu has a long standing reputation in the pet supply industry with over 40 years in the business. We have become recognized as the pet experts in communities across the country. Franchisees enjoy turn-key store operation including floor plans and design, supervision of leasehold improvements, store equipment purchasing and installation, initial inventory purchasing, and experienced supervision at store opening. Each franchisee completes three weeks of training. The first two weeks of training are hands-on at an existing Pet Valu store under the supervision of experienced operator. The final week of training is at our head office in Markham, Ontario. At the head office training, we cover a variety of topics, including daily operation procedures, bookkeeping, product knowledge, staffing, marketing, and pet care.

Pet Valu has joined the list of retailers permanently shuttered during the coronavirus pandemic.The specialty retailer of pet food and supplies said Wednesday that it will wind down operations at its Pennsylvania headquarters and close all of its 358 stores and warehouses across the U.S. It said closing sales will begin in the next few days.
