They are also known for hanging sides of beef at the deli, and signature fresh sausages prepared in-house.
Fortinos - History
In 1961, Italian immigrant steelworker John Fortino opened his first Fortinos store in Hamilton, Ontario. In 1972, John took on seven partners and opened a second store on Hamilton Mountain. Fortinos expanded over the years, now operating 23 stores in the Greater Toronto Area. Fortinos is now owned by Loblaws Companies.
Fortinos - Promotions
Weekly deals are available in flyers both in store and online. As a part of Loblaw Companies, Fortino customers can also collect and use their PC Optimum points on purchases. They also sell the affordable President's Choice brand throughout the store.
Fortinos - News
Fortinos is a European-style 'townsquare' shopping concept in which the store is set like a European Street with Bakeshoppe, cheese shoppe, Butchers, Flower Shoppe, etc.; and in some locations allowing the customer to pay in each of those departments. Fortinos posts news updates to their website, with changes to store hours, operations, and policies. They also post new brochures like the Pane Fresco Catering brochure so customers can find out what's new and available.
