Right here in Canada, nearly 12 million people are currently living with diabetes or prediabetes. The new research, which to date has only been conducted on rats, gets past the problem of swallowed insulin by creating a tablet that dissolves when placed between the gum and cheek. This technique utilizes the buccal mucosa, a membrane found within the lining of the inner cheek and the back of the lips. This pill delivers all of the insulin to the liver without wasting it along the way. If the research continues to show positive results, future ~ research on humans could help the more than 300,000 y ~*~ Canadians who have to inject ‘ys y insulin multiple times a day to have a better quality of life
